Congratulations on your decision to marry!

To get married in Australia you must register your notice of intention to marry (NOIM) with an Authorised Marriage celebrant Celebrant one month and one day before the ceremony.

 

To complete the NOIM you must produce some original documentation:-

• Birth Certificate
• Photo ID (passport or driver’s license)
• Evidence of how any previous marriages have ended (divorce or death certificate).

You don’t really need rings to get married, but there are certain words that you and I MUST say.

There are a couple of documents to sign at the ceremony, and these must be witnessed by two people over 18 years old.

Apart from that, the day is yours. You can say or do what has meaning for you, and include important people.
