One way to include important people who may not be in the bridal party is to ask them to read a poem, a verse, or some witty and interesting piece.
You might ask people to say something during the ceremony. Speeches can be made after the ceremony, but during the ceremony, a reading works best. The person may have something in mind that reflects how they feel and the blessing that they want to bestow on your on the day.
Or you may find something that is meaningful to you.
